About Broadband

Are you new to Broadband?

Broadband in the UK is growing at pace and a number of deals from broadband providers currently make things very attractive!

A broadband, or ADSL connection offers much greater speeds than were previously available and constant availability means users can use as much or as little as they want for a monthly price.

Not long ago most users were paying for dial up Internet access and connecting through a 56k modem. Now, just a few years on we are already seeing up to 24mb (24,000k) broadband and many providers now defaulting at 8mb.

Jargon surrounding broadband can be a bit confusing and we aim to make it a little simpler and we hope to help you make the right choice of broadband provider. A few simple guidelines should help you make the right decision, for instance, the occasional user who doesn't download much probably needs a different deal from the person who downloads many files.

Users who just use the internet for general surfing and emails are going to need lower bandwidth deals (512k, 1mb, 2mb), but users who download music and videos are going to need higher or even unlimited bandwidth (4mb upwards).

Our Broadband guide can help you with many questions you have to broadband related issues.
